2026 Hilton Head Lantern Parade

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C., 2026 — Locals and visitors will once again line the shoreline with glowing lanterns and community pride as the Hilton Head Island Lantern Parade returns Saturday, November 14, 2026. The beloved procession marks the grand finale of the annual Crescendo Celebration, Hilton Head Island's months-long festival honoring the arts, culture and local heritage.
Originating at Alder Lane Beach Access and winding north along South Forest Beach toward Coligny Beach Park, the parade route invites families, friends and curious newcomers to join in or simply admire the show. As dusk gives way to night, the soft glow of handmade lanterns transforms the beach into a glowing stream of light, creativity and celebration.
Participation is open to all and no registration is required. Just show up with a lantern and fall in line, or watch on the sidelines. Artists, school groups, organizations and individuals have spent weeks preparing original pieces, often inspired by Lowcountry wildlife, ocean themes or personal stories. While some carry simple paper globes, others walk beside sculptural masterpieces glowing from within.
The Lantern Parade is the culminating event of the Crescendo Celebration, which began in early October and featured concerts, gallery exhibits, stage productions and creative workshops throughout the island. Designed to spotlight Hilton Head's cultural vitality, Crescendo draws support from the Office of Cultural Affairs and community partners.
Lineup begins at 5 PM at the Alder Lane Beach Access. The parade steps off at 5:45 PM, right after sunset, and travels north along South Forest Beach from Alder Lane. Organizers also suggest dressing in layers and bringing flashlights or headlamps for post-event travel.
The Lantern Parade is free and family-friendly. However, pets, bicycles and sky lanterns are not permitted in the parade. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information about the 2026 Hilton Head Island Lantern Parade and the Crescendo Celebration, visit CultureHHI.
