Whether you've just peeled yourself off the beach or finished a round of golf, Hilton Head's happy hour scene has something for everyone — from $1 raw oysters on the waterfront to half-priced margaritas on a festive patio. Here's our roundup of the island's best spots to make the most of that magic hour.

*Happy hour specials, times, and details are subject to change. We always recommend calling ahead or visiting the restaurant's website to confirm current offerings before you go.

BEST HAPPY HOURS ON HILTON HEAD

Brother Shucker's Bar & Grill

7D Greenwood Dr., Ste. 3 (Reilley's Plaza)

If you ask locals where to find the best happy hour on the island, Brother Shucker's name comes up again and again — and for good reason. This contemporary bar in Reilley's Plaza opens daily at 3:30pm and kicks off happy hour right at the bell, running all the way to 6:30pm every single day of the week. The deals are genuinely hard to beat: half-price wine, well drinks, and select draft and bottled beers, plus a variety of food specials - $1 oysters (buck-a-shuck!), 50¢ peel-and-eat SHRIMP, and $4 fish, shrimp, and chicken tacos. The atmosphere is lively, the staff is friendly, and live music runs Tuesday through Sunday with Trivia Night on Mondays. If you're looking for a place that keeps the good times going late, the kitchen is open until midnight and the bar stays open until 2am, seven days a week.

We recommend: Pulling up to the bar right at 3:30pm and ordering a round of $1 oysters and a $4 fish taco while snagging a half-price cold draft. Few things on this island are a better deal.

Tio's Latin American Kitchen

40 Shelter Cove Lane, #181 (Shelter Cove Towne Centre)

Tio's is the kind of place that locals go back to over and over — and it's no mystery why. Chef Lynden Zuniga opened Tio's in 2018 with a simple mission: quality ingredients, bold Latin-American flavors, and a fun atmosphere where guests leave feeling like friends. Nestled at Shelter Cove, Tio's daily happy hour brings serious value to the table, with $5 specialty cocktails (their draft margaritas are legendary — don't leave without trying one), plus food specials that rotate through the week. Tack on Tuesday music bingo nights, Wine Wednesdays with live music, fajita Fridays, and a Sunday boozy brunch featuring bottomless mimosas and all-you-can-eat tacos, and you've got a restaurant that basically runs specials around the clock. The vibe is festive and family-friendly with a full open kitchen and a colorful, welcoming space.

We recommend: Getting there early enough to get a seat at the bar where the happy hour specials are. Order one of their $5 house draft margaritas with fresh squeezed limes. Want to make it a "double"? Ask for a $3 Hornitos shot on the side! The tacos can't be beat. There are numerous combinations, they're tasty, they're loaded, and they're only $3.

Reilley's Grill & Bar

7D Greenwood Dr. (Reilley's Plaza)

With over 40 years of serving up food, drinks, and good times on Hilton Head, Reilley's is as much an island institution as the beach itself. Their happy hour is one of the most popular on the south end, running daily from 4–7pm with half-priced domestic bottles, drafts, and well drinks — a deal that fills the bar and high-top area quickly on any given afternoon. The expansive menu guarantees something for everyone, and the vibrant patio with live music makes lingering past the happy hour window pretty much inevitable. Reilley's is also well-known for their legendary St. Patrick's Day celebrations and their Sunday Champagne Brunch, but the everyday happy hour is what keeps the regulars coming back week after week.

A Hilton Head institution for over 40 years, Reilley's keeps it simple and satisfying: daily happy hour from 4–7pm with half-priced domestic bottles, draft beers, and well drinks. The bar, high-tops, and lively patio fill up fast — especially when live music is going.

We recommend: A half-price draft and the Blackened Blue Burger — blue cheese and fried onions on grilled rye — at the bar or a patio high-top between 4 and 7. A great everyday happy hour.

We recommend: Planting yourself at the bar or grabbing a high-top on the patio between 4–7pm and ordering the Blackened Blue Burger — an 8-ounce patty with blue cheese crumbles and fried onions on grilled rye — alongside a half-priced draft.

The Smokehouse

34 Palmetto Bay Rd.

The Smokehouse has been Hilton Head's celebrated home of award-winning, wood-fired BBQ since 1999 — and their happy hour is every bit as good as the ribs. Running daily from 4–6pm, The Smokehouse's happy hour is best enjoyed up at The Chimney Bar, their rooftop gem with craft cocktails and a warm, inviting atmosphere perched above the main dining room. The happy hour food menu is a crowd-pleaser: $1 pork tacos are a perennial fan favorite, joined by steak tacos, fried pickles, fried mac & cheese bites, and bone-in wings. Add in their signature cocktails, rotating beer taps, and 15 TVs spread across indoor and outdoor spaces to catch any game in progress, and you've got a full afternoon taken care of. The bar stays open until midnight each night, and the dining room features a 30-foot retractable window wall that lets the Lowcountry breeze right in.

Hilton Head's award-winning BBQ spot runs happy hour daily from 4–6pm, best enjoyed up at The Chimney Bar on the rooftop. Food specials include $1 pork tacos, steak tacos, fried pickles, fried mac & cheese bites, and bone-in wings, all paired with cocktail and beer specials. Fifteen TVs inside and out make it a great spot to catch a game while you snack.

We recommend: Heading straight to The Chimney Bar for the 4–6pm window and loading up on $1 pork tacos — order a few, no judgment — with a signature cocktail in hand.

The Sandbar Beach Eats

101 Pope Ave. (near Coligny Beach Park)

Right across from Coligny Beach Park, The Sandbar is perfectly positioned for a post-beach stop before you head back to rinse off the salt. Happy hour kicks off at 3pm daily, making it one of the earlier starts on the island and ideal for those who take beach days seriously. The deals are approachable and crowd-pleasing — think $3 margaritas, $2 draft beers, and a casual menu of bites that includes their popular loaded hush puppies and Mexican Street Corn dip. The beach-vibe decor, blue umbrellas, and mix of covered and open-air outdoor seating make it feel like a natural extension of the sand a block away. Locals consistently rave about the atmosphere, and the charbroiled oysters are always worth ordering alongside whatever's in your glass.

Steps from Coligny Beach Park and one of the earliest happy hours on the island, The Sandbar starts their deals daily at 3pm: $3 margaritas, $2 draft beers, and casual bites like loaded hush puppies and Mexican Street Corn dip. The breezy open-air patio makes it a natural first stop after a day in the sand.

We recommend: Arriving around 3pm, grabbing a seat outside, and starting with the Street Corn dip and a $3 margarita. You've earned it.

We recommend: Arriving around 3pm while the sand is still in your flip flops, grabbing a seat outside under the umbrellas, and starting with the Street Corn dip and a $3 margarita. You've earned it.

Holy Tequila Mexican Kitchen

33 Office Park Rd., Ste. 228 (Park Plaza Shopping Center)

Holy Tequila takes the fiesta concept seriously — especially during happy hour. Running daily from 4–7pm (with some sources noting an earlier 3pm start, so call ahead to confirm), the deals here are genuinely stacked: half-priced well liquors and house wines, $1 off specialty cocktails and all bottled and draft beers, and $2.50 tacos and bar snacks that make it easy to settle in for the evening. Holy Tequila holds the island's largest tequila selection, with over 60 premium tequilas ranging from blancos to añejos, reposados, mezcals, and ultra-premium blends — so the bar is absolutely the star of the show. The festive, cantina-inspired atmosphere includes a covered outdoor patio and live flamenco guitarists who kick things off nightly at 6:30pm, ensuring your happy hour flows naturally into dinner without missing a beat. Voted Hilton Head's Best Mexican and Best Taco of the Lowcountry, this one consistently earns its reputation.

We recommend: Sitting at the bar or covered patio, diving into the tequila menu with the help of your server, and pairing your flight with the $2.50 tacos while the flamenco guitar gets started in the background.

Fishcamp on Broad Creek

11 Simmons Rd. (Broad Creek Marina)

Fishcamp on Broad Creek is one of those Hilton Head spots that feels like a true local secret — a beautifully restored historic waterfront building with a sprawling outdoor patio, fire pit, bocce, corn hole, live music, and views of Broad Creek that make the whole world slow down. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 4–6pm (at the bar and high-top tables only), and the deals are some of the most specific and satisfying on the island: $4 domestic beers and house wine, $6 SlowCountry Lager, Exit 8 IPA, Pond Juice, and Swine Shine, plus $1.25 raw oysters and 50¢ peel-and-eat shrimp. Live music fills the patio Tuesday through Saturday evenings, and the kitchen stays open until 10pm for those who want to turn happy hour into dinner over a plate of the excellent crab cakes or shrimp and polenta. The Reilley and Simmons families opened Fishcamp in 2016 with deep Gullah-rooted ties to the land — and that sense of history and family spirit is evident in every corner.

A gorgeous waterfront spot at Broad Creek Marina, Fishcamp offers Monday through Friday happy hour from 4–6pm at bar and high-top seating. Specials include $4 domestic beers and house wine, $6 craft drafts, $1.25 raw oysters, and 50¢ peel-and-eat shrimp. Live music runs Tuesday through Saturday evenings on the outdoor patio.

We recommend: Claiming a spot at the outside bar before 4pm, ordering oysters and peel-and-eat shrimp, and staying for the live music as the sun sets over the creek.

We recommend: Heading out on a weekday before 4pm to claim a spot at the outside bar, ordering a round of raw oysters and peel-and-eat shrimp while the sun sets over the creek, and not leaving until after the live music starts.

Mixx on Main

87 N. Main St.

If you find yourself on the north end of the island and in need of a low-key neighborhood happy hour, Mixx on Main is the answer. Open since 2018, this eclectic bistro and bar has built a fiercely loyal local following thanks to its something-for-everyone menu — a masterful mix of all-American favorites, Mexican fare, Italian specialties, bar snacks, and more — paired with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that never feels touristy. The happy hour brings cocktail and appetizer deals that rotate and keep things fresh, and the renovated expanded deck and patio make al fresco drinks feel like a genuine evening out. Locals consistently describe it as the island's best-kept secret, which means it tends to stay pleasantly undiscovered by the vacation crowd. Come as you are, grab a seat at the bar, and order what sounds good — the kitchen staff here seems to take pride in everything that comes out.

A north end neighborhood favorite with a loyal local crowd, Mixx on Main offers daily happy hour specials on cocktails and appetizers. The eclectic menu — street tacos, quesadillas, Italian dishes, classic bar bites — and a renovated outdoor patio make it a go-to for a relaxed afternoon drink on that end of the island.

We recommend: Settling onto the patio with a happy hour cocktail and starting with the street tacos or artichoke dip — two of the most popular items on the menu.

We recommend: Arriving on a weekday afternoon, snagging a seat at the bar or out on the patio, and ordering the house specialties — the street tacos, "Mixxadillas," and artichoke dip are consistently praised — alongside whatever's on special.

Poseidon Coastal Cuisine

38 Shelter Cove Lane, Ste. 121 (Shelter Cove Towne Centre)

Poseidon is a Hilton Head dining destination in every sense of the word — and their happy hour might be the most scenic on the island. Running daily from 4–7pm at all three of their bars (the outside Nautibar, the inside "World Is Your Oyster" raw bar, and the rooftop bar), Poseidon gives you options depending on your mood: waterfront breezes at the Nautibar, raw bar heaven inside, or the rooftop with some of the best views of Broad Creek you'll find anywhere. Happy hour specials include discounted beer, wine, and specialty cocktails, with $1 oysters and $6 margaritas frequently cited as highlights. The Rooftop Bar transitions into Hilton Head's liveliest entertainment venue after dark, with live music Thursday through Saturday and a DJ dance party on Saturdays running until 2am. The Coastal Country Night on Wednesdays features line dancing from 7–9pm followed by live country music until 11pm — a full evening right there.

Poseidon runs happy hour daily from 4–7pm across all three of their bars — the waterfront Nautibar, the indoor raw bar, and the rooftop. Specials include $1 oysters, $6 margaritas, and discounted beers, wines, and specialty cocktails. The rooftop kicks into entertainment mode after dark with live music Thursday–Saturday and a DJ dance party on Saturdays.

We recommend: Starting at the Nautibar at 4pm for $1 oysters and a cocktail with creek views, then heading upstairs to the rooftop as the evening picks up.

We recommend: Arriving at the Nautibar right at 4pm for a sunset happy hour, ordering $1 oysters and a signature cocktail, and then migrating upstairs to the Rooftop Bar as the evening picks up.

Top Dawg Tavern & Pizzeria

13 Harbourside Lane (Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina)

Top Dawg Tavern & Pizzeria sits right on the waterfront at Shelter Cove Harbour and is genuinely one of the most family-friendly happy hour destinations on the island. The weekday happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 4–7pm, featuring special pricing on domestic, craft, and local beers, wines, sangria, and shots — with daily specials that rotate to keep things interesting. The covered waterfront patios (heated in winter, fanned in summer) make it a year-round go-to, and the marina backdrop is beautiful at any time of day. Dozens of TVs inside and out mean you'll never miss a game, and the Lil' Dawg House kids' zone makes it genuinely comfortable for families. The menu goes well beyond bar fare — wood-fired pizzas, calzones, burgers, seafood, and salads are all on the table — so staying through dinner is easy. Live music on the patio during peak season makes the whole thing feel like a proper island evening.

We recommend: Grabbing a covered patio table facing the harbor during the Monday–Friday 4–7pm window, ordering a round of discounted craft drafts and the Frontline American Lager (brewed for Folds of Honor), and watching the boats come in while the sun goes down.
