The 9th Annual Gullah Food Festival on Hilton Head Island promises an unforgettable immersion in the tastes and traditions of Gullah culture. Presented by the Gullah Museum of Hilton Head Island, the event is set for Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Gullah Museum of Hilton Head Island at 12 Georgianna Dr.. Admission for adults is $15 and for youth (4–12) is $5.
Festival goers will delight in Lowcountry classics like conch stew and shrimp & grits, served up alongside storytelling, crafts, and cultural presentations — it’s more than a food fair; it’s a living celebration of a heritage built on resilience, community and creativity.
If you’ve ever wanted to understand in a visceral way what Gullah food means — the African-influenced rhythms of rice, seafood, sweetgrass, and family recipes handed down through generations — this festival is one of the best chances to do so on Hilton Head. You’ll not only taste the dishes, you’ll hear the stories behind them and meet chefs and vendors who keep the tradition alive.
Whether you’re a longtime local or a first-time visitor, plan to arrive hungry, stay curious, and take time to talk with the people behind the plates. The Gullah Food Festival is one of those island events that doesn’t just fill your belly — it connects you to a history and a community. More info and tickets on the Gullah Museum website.
