Hilton Head Island’s month-long celebration of arts and culture begins with a favorite tradition: the Kick-Off Party in the Park, set for Tuesday, October 14 from 4:30 to 7:00 PM at Shelter Cove Community Park. Admission is free, and the event promises live music, art, food, and a strong sense of community.

The evening brings together dozens of booths showcasing original artwork, hands-on activities, and information from local cultural and arts organizations. Families can wander the park, meet representatives from groups shaping Hilton Head’s creative scene, and enjoy the casual, open-air setting.

Headlining the stage this year is Nashville songwriter and performer Phoenix Mendoza, joined by the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina’s cast of Come From Away, the Hilton Head Dance Theater, and Hilton Head Preparatory School with selections from Mary Poppins. A special performance from the Rays of Pockets Full of Sunshine will add to the mix. Food and drinks from local vendors will be available, making it easy to stay through the evening. Afterward, the party continues at Tio’s Latin American Kitchen, which will host the official after-party.

The Kick-Off Party in the Park is more than an opening night—it’s the launchpad for a month of Hilton Head arts events, giving residents and visitors a taste of what’s to come. With its mix of performances, community connections, and a relaxed waterfront atmosphere, it remains one of the island’s most anticipated fall gatherings.
